Language and communication have fascinated me as long as I can remember. The fact that I can make random scratches on a piece of processed dead plants and be able to share an idea across space and time? It’s crazy. And that I can make specific weird sounds with my mouth to share something else? Also crazy.

Even though language feels so natural for most of us, it is incredibly complex, and extremely effective at what it does.

There are times, though, that it just doesn’t even seem to come close. Like how, after all the time humans have been talking to each other, are there still so many ideas and feelings that there just…aren’t words for? Seriously.

You’d think we’d have eventually figured some of that out.

Apparently not.
